In this page I want to share some of the binary options books that helped me transition from a clueless investor to a smart investor and eventually got me into day trading. Binary Options is a great opportunity given the potential profits, yet with the high risk many traders end up losing for several reasons and mostly due to lack of information and the inability to develop a strategic approach with their trades. Binary Options Brokers will offer you Live Webinars and Quick Strategy Guides, yet if you lack a broader understanding of online trading and investing in general, you might fall victim to bad trading decisions. I am a true believer that a good book is equal to 10 good lectures!

Being in your own comfort zone and studying at your own pace will increase your engagement in the material and is the best way to truly understand difficult and challenging concepts. If your goal is to turn day-trading into a living, investing time into a learning phase is highly recommended. As a Binary Options Trader, I don’t believe that it’s enough to master 2 or 3 Indicators, get a 30 minute coaching from an account manager and read about a strategy or two on some random site.

None of these efforts will get you to understand the big picture, the macro and the micro and how markets interact. The easy way it not the right way, and if are dedicated to create a future in which you will become a successful investor, reading a good book or two will definitely get you there quicker! Note there are a few books out there on Amazon that I cannot recommend, in most cases they are trying to sell the reader a product in the context of the book and usually these books will receive negative reviews and low number of positive reviews. An example of such books How to trade binary option successfully by Meir Liraz (2.5 stars on Amazon) or Unleash the power of Binary Options by Duane Cunningham (trying to sell a money making system via the book, 3 fake reviews 1 honest disappointed reader) The Intelligent Investor – Book Review.

Benjamin Graham’s strategies and great wisdom, inspired traders worldwide with his extraordinary trading philosophy. The Intelligent Investor is one of the most important investment books of the 20th century. This book is highly reviewed in a positive way and is affordable.

I can strongly recommend the Intelligent Investor to anyone who is interested to dive deep into the basics and understand how financial markets interact and change over time. The title of this book says it all. In this instructional book, Alexander Elder covers all the aspects that a day trader must consider when transitioning to a life of day trading.

As with any life transition, we must stay aware of how we react to changes and with a strong emphasis on the psychology of day-trading, Alexander Elder did a great job of classifying the psychological characteristics of a successful investor and that of a non-successful investor. This book is very insightful and popular in the Amazon community. Day Trading for Dummies – Book Review.

This is probably the most popular and easy to read day-trading book in the market, especially due to the success of the Dummies Series taking over all possible topics that people are searching for. The authors picked for the job are well recognized in the field of their writing and when it comes to the Day Trading for Dummies, you can definitely trust that the book is well written by Ann C. Logue MBA with 12 years of experience as an Investment Analyst, lecturer in Finance at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Ann C Logue also wrote the entire series of Day Trading and Investment for Dummies with the assistance of co-writers.

Keene on the Markets – Book Review. In this highly reviewed publication, Andrew Keene writes on risk management strategies associated with options trading, volatility trading and put and call markets. Keene also lays out a trading plan for the reader to follow, with lot’s of market maker techniques and tricks . This is another popular book among the Amazon community and a Must Read for newbie traders! Top 6 Binary Options Books.

Many traders, especially newbies, are continuously asking me to recommend binary options books. Although a lot of material is available on-line, such as our own popular trading pattern section, sometimes it’s nice to get a real physical book with a wealth of information. Moreover, many of the websites that provide information regarding binary options are also selling various indicators, software, signal services, trading patterns, etc. So it’s difficult to trust their objectivity.

But a book written by a professional trader who is not selling you anything but the book itself is much more trustworthy. Top 5 Binary Options Books. I’ve therefore decided to provide you this list of top 5 binary options books. If you know any good books which I haven’t included, please let us know by leaving a comment below this post. You’re also welcome to share your own review regarding my recommended books.

Call Or Put How I Profit Using Binary Options. I’ve given this book a review of its own since I found it very useful. You are welcome to read the review here. top binary option books When we first started learning options we took what we define as the normal learning path. We started with a simple Google search on option trading and began to read. and read. and read. While we picked up a lot of great information it was only in small bits and pieces and it was very random. The great part about the web is that you can find information on any subject at the touch of a button. The bad part is that it is only on a certain segment in that subject and not the big picture. Who is going to write a 500 page blog post that encompasses all of options? One of the best ways to start into a new subject is with a good book. Books have a better opportunity to give you the big picture on a subject. Not only do you get a lot of information but it is in a format that follows a learning path. A learning path is a guided journey through a subject making sure you learn everything in the correct order. A website full of blogs and articles causes you to jump around from one section to the next without a definable path. This is great if you need some quick information but horrible if you want to learn from start to finish. Thanks to places like Amazon it is even easier to get that book into your hands. With hundreds and sometimes thousands of books on a single subject it can be difficult to figure out which of those is "good". What we have done is compiled a list of our top five favorite option trading books plus a bonus book at the end. Many of these books we have used ourselves as a learning source or a simple reference guide. There are a lot of moving parts with options so having a quick reference handy is always a necessity. Option As A Strategic Investment by Lawrence McMillan. If you could only pick one book from this list to buy this would be the one you need to get. At over 1000 pages this book will be your option trading bible. Here is the quick description The market in listed options and non-equity option products provides investors and traders with a wealth of new, strategic opportunities for managing their investments. This updated and revised Fifth Edition of the bestselling Options as a Strategic Investment gives you the latest market-tested tools for improving the earnings potential of your portfolio while reducing downside risk—no matter how the market is performing. Written especially for investors who have some familiarity with the option market, this comprehensive reference also shows you the concepts and applications of various option strategies -- how they work, in which situations, and why techniques for using index options and futures to protect one’s portfolio and improve one’s return and the implications of the tax laws for option writers, including allowable long-term gains and losses. Detailed examples, exhibits, and checklists show you the power of each strategy under carefully described market conditions. This book is broken down into several important categories Basic Properties Of Stock Options This is your basic introduction to options covering definitions, symbology, order entry, and profit and loss graphs. It won't spend too much time into any one of these subject but it does give you a good starting point. Call and Put Option Strategies Lawrence McMillan doesn't waste any time jumping into option strategies. Each strategy has is its own chapter and each one gets its own personal touch. You won't find him talking about the same type of information for each strategy. He tailors the section and comments to fit the strategy. His descriptions are mostly unbiased and focus on telling you the most important information about each strategy. Additional Considerations This section talks about the smaller subjects of option trading such as treasury bills, arbitrage and mathematical applications. Index Options and Futures This is a good section on how to trade index and future options and how to use them to hedge your portfolio. Measuring and Trading Volatility Volatility is a huge part of option trading. We believe it is the most important aspect of option trading and a clear understanding of volatility will make you a great option trader. Unfortunately Lawrence McMillan only touches on volatility but we have other books that dive deeper into that part. Still it is a good primer to get your feet wet and round out the understand of options. Options As A Strategic Investment aims to get you started in option trading. It spends the bulk of its pages focused on familiarizing you with the each of the option strategies and answering questions about those. It does a fantastic job at this part but fails to really deliver on the more advance topics like volatility and the Greeks. Option Volatility And Pricing by Sheldon Natenberg. After you have covered the basics its time to explore more advanced topics and the best introduction to those is through Option Volatility and Pricing . The quick description You'll learn how professional option traders approach the market, including the trading strategies and risk management techniques necessary for success. You'll gain a fuller understanding of how theoretical pricing models work. And, best of all, you'll learn how to apply the principles of option evaluation to create strategies that, given a trader's assessment of market conditions and trends, have the greatest chance of success. Option trading is both a science and an art. This book shows how to apply both to maximum effect. Sheldon Natenberg begins with the option pricing model and then moves into volatility and the Greeks. Volatility is a complicated topic and Natenberg provides a great start as he breaks it down into easy to understand principals. He also covers more into spreads and specifically into volatility spreads. A volatility spread is a spread that is delta-neutral, sensitive to changes in the price of the underlying, sensitive to changes in implied volatility and sensitive to the passage of time. The Option Trader's Hedge Fund by Mark Sebastian. Now that we've found the books we need for option basics and the more advanced topics lets drill down to some specifics. The Option Trader's Hedge Fund is a great book for running a short option portfolio. Don't let the title scare you away this is not geared towards hedge funds. The short description In this book, a hedge fund manager and an option trading coach show you how to earn steady, reliable income selling options by managing your option trades and running your option portfolio as a real business with consistent, steady returns. Packed with real-world examples, the authors show you how to manage your own “one man” hedge fund and make consistent profits from selling options by applying the basic framework and fundamental business model and principles of an “insurance company”. This framework helps you to apply your option trading strategy to a solid, predictable, business model with consistent returns. For someone who has some knowledge of trading options and wants to become a consistent income earner. Mark Sebastian details out the strategies used toe run a short option portfolio such as vertical spreads, iron condors, iron butterfly, time spreads and ratio spreads. He details out how to build a portfolio and run it like an insurance company (because selling option credit is like selling insurance). Packed with his experience from the trading floor you can see how market makers handle risk management, trade execution, and the Greeks. Trading Options Greeks How Time, Volatility, and Other Pricing Factors Drive Profits by Dan Passarelli. If you are going to be an option trader you need to know your Greeks and there is no better book than Trading Options Greeks How Time, Volatility, and Other Pricing Factors Drive Profits . The Greeks are going to tell you how your option price moves as the underlying moves (delta), passage of time (theta), volatility movement (vega) and the change in interest rates (rho). A quick description The options market is always changing, and in order to keep up with it, you need the greeks—delta, gamma, theta, vega, and rho—which are the best techniques for valuing options and executing trades regardless of market conditions. In the Second Edition of Trading Options Greeks, veteran options trader Dan Pasarelli puts these tools in perspective by offering fresh insights on option trading and valuation. An essential guide for both professional and aspiring traders, this book explains the greeks in a straightforward and accessible style. It skillfully shows how they can be used to facilitate trading strategies that seek to profit from volatility, time decay, or changes in interest rates. Along the way, it makes use of new charts and examples, and discusses how the proper application of the greeks can lead to more accurate pricing and trading as well as alert you to a range of other opportunities. Like Mark Sebastian, Dan Passarelli spent time on the floor so his experience comes as a market maker. Dan starts off with the Greek basics but quickly moves into more advanced topics such as spreads, volatility and actually using the Greeks in your trading. Options Trading The Hidden Reality by Charles Cottle. Moving on with our advanced topics we are going right in with Options Trading The Hidden Reality . We will be the first to admit that this book is going to be the more difficult one to get through. The writing will be harder to follow so a couple of passes through this book is necessary. However, we still recommend this book because it is going to cover a wider more abstract range of option topics. Charles deals with option synthetics, put-call parity, hybrid hedging and adjustments. The book teaches readers when an adjustment becomes necessary and which adjustment to go with. It helps to take the emotion out of trading and turn it into a more mechanical process. Bonus Book Learn Options eBook (free) The Learn Options eBook is a great reference book to keep handy. Each option strategy is laid out in full detail. Now you can quickly turn the page and see the max profit, max loss, breakeven, margin requirements and profit and loss graph for each option strategy. It also talks briefly about the history of options so you have an idea of what you are working with and their origin. The book also moves into the more advanced topics such as the Greeks and volatility. One key reference point is the Greek Cheat Sheet laid out towards the back of the book. This is a great reference to have because it list each option strategy and the Greeks associated with it and how they affect the position. What book has helped you with options? Let us know in the comments. 7 Of The Best Books On Forex Trading. The purpose of this 'how to trade binary options successfully' book is to show you how to make money trading Binary Options. In the first several chapters we will deal with the in and outs of BO while later on we will go into the strategies needed to achieve success in trading binaries. So what are Binary Options (also referred to as 'digital options', 'fixed return options' and 'all-or-nothing options')? A binary option is In fact a prediction of which direction the price of the underlying asset (a stock, commodity, index or currency) will move by a specified expiration time. With Binary Options, an investor doesn't purchase the asset - he is merely predicting the direction that the underlying asset moves. There are actually just two possible outcomes. A fixed gain if the option expires &ldquoin the money&rdquo, or a fixed loss if the option expires &ldquoout of the money.&rdquo The price of the asset is not important. The only thing that is matter is whether the prediction is correct or incorrect. A binary options trade usably involved three steps First, you choose a trade expiration time, this is the time you want the trade to end. It could be any time period between a minute and a week - usably it is within the day. Second, you choose Call or Put. If you think the price will end up above the current price you click the buycall button. If you think the price will end up below the current price click the sellput button. Now that the trade is placed, you simply wait for the outcome. If the trade expires 'in the money', you make a profit. If it expires 'out of the money' , you'll lose. Now you can see where the "binary" comes from, it stresses the fact that there are two possible outcomes to a binary option, both of which are set and understood by the investor prior to placing a trade. Now here is an example You purchase a Google binary option for $25, with the opinion that within 2 hours Google's shares will be higher than they currently stand. If you are correct you get a previously set percentage return on your investment (e. g. 82%), should the shares go lower you lose your investment (some brokers will give you back a small amount as a "refund"). A number of factors distinguish binary options from regular stock options. Typically the short-run expiration time suggests traders could make an immediate profit on the binary options and therefore are way more versatile in their option investments. In regular stock options, a trader will pay per contract. Therefore the investor may profit or lose a sum based on the quantity of points difference between the expiration level and the strike price. In contrast to binary options in which the two outcomes are actually set from the beginning. An investor in a binary option needs to hold onto his option until the expiry date. He must consequently take more care when ever buying his options as he is unable to sell them after they are purchased. Binary options are categorized as exotic options, however, inside financial markets they sometimes are termed as digital options. While digital options are quite simple to understand and easily traded, the mathematics behind the pricing is complex. It is because of this that digital options are referred to as exotic options. For years Binary Options were traded by large institutions and their clients in the over the counter market (OTC). In 2008, the Securities and Exchange Commission in the US approved the listing of binary options with continuous quotations and now binary options are also available to individual investors. Most binary options strategy tracings nowadays are performed online thru private brokers that use sophisticated trading platforms. Top Five Books About Binary Options. To any beginner, trading binary options, be it the process of opening an account or placing an order, would look quite simple. On the contrary, any experienced binary options trader would vouch for the fact that trading binary options is as complex (if not more) as trading vanilla options. There cannot be any ifs or buts in the strategy employed thereby making it quite difficult to achieve consistent returns. Even though large financial institutions have been using exotic options for a long time, an ordinary small-scale retail investor had very little access to this form of investment vehicle. Thus, a beginner may not have heard most of the financial jargon used in this form of investment. So, it becomes all the more important for an aspiring binary options trader to equip himself technically before entering this lucrative over-the-counter (OTC) market. In this regard, apart from the free material offered by most of the binary options brokers, a trader should spare some time to read at least a handful of noted binary options trading related publications written by renowned authors. The following is a partial list of books suggested for both beginners and professionals to gain a head start in this profession. Exotic Options Trading by Frans de Weert. The book titled exotic options trading was authored by Frans de Weert who worked as a trader in Barclay’s capital. The book shares the practical knowledge acquired by the author during his tenure in the investment firm. The author had succeeded in his primary intention of providing option traders, economics students and interested individuals the necessary tools to understand exotic options. Additionally, the book serves as a manual for a trader to manage price and risk of both simple and complicated exotic options. To succeed trading in binary options, a trader should be able to quantify the risks associated with each and every kind of binary options contract and the levels at which the Greeks change sign. The book precisely provides an answer to the same. Each and every kind of binary options contract is approached from four different angles namely Reason for investor demand for a particular binary options contract. Risk behind a binary options contract and its impact on the pricing. Best way to hedge the Vega and Gamma exposure embedded in a binary options contract. The skew exposure for a binary options contract. Through a systematic approach, the risk is assessed and the trading strategy is determined for every kind of binary options contract in this book. The book not only discusses conventional options, digital options, barrier options, cliquets, quanto options, outperformance options and variance swaps but also structured notes embedded with exotic options. The book deals with numerous real life examples of trading different kinds of options contract. Thus, a trader will have no doubts in applying a suitable mathematical formula for a particular scenario. All the options Greeks and inter-relation between them are explained in a clear manner with charts. However, in order to understand the subject, a trader is expected to have basic knowledge about the option Greeks. Additionally, the author has set aside a separate chapter for volatility skew (difference in implied volatility between out-of-money , at-the-money and in-the-money options). A professional may be well aware of the fact that volatility skew is quite difficult to quantify but has tremendous impact on the value of binary options. The book suits both beginners and professionals who wish to have an in-depth knowledge of exotic options and it’s pricing. The book covers A-to-Z of options trading. For someone who wish to have a commanding knowledge (theoretical and practical) about binary options or options in general this is a must read book. Binary Betting by John Piper. The book is written by the UK based author John Piper. He is an accomplished derivatives trader who participated in the market actively in the mid 80’s. In an effort to share his trading experience spanning two decades, the author started the newsletter named “The Technical Trader” in 1989. The author describes his approach to market as “ psycho-trading ” (meaning — understanding the mind of the market). Among several other books published earlier on, the notable one is an introductory book on binary betting. In his book, the author insists that success in binary betting depends on the ability to take trades when news is released. The book is divided into two parts. The first part consists of three chapters which deal with personal likes and dislikes of the author, theoretical approach (points to remember – money management, entering at cheapest price etc.,) to binary options trading and different kinds of bets available for trading. The theoretical approach explains four different kinds of strategies namely Buy near certainties Buy very cheap Buy low and trade the position More complex strategies. The author discusses all the methods in detail along with three different approaches (systematic, indicator based, opportunistic) to them. The third chapter gives practical examples for financial bets including updown, barrier, one touch, and highlow options. From the perspective of a wannabe binary options trader, part II, which is all about trading strategies, is the most important part in the book. The trading strategies section teaches a trader to make entries in such a way that there is no need to place a stop loss order. The techniques also ensure that a trader will make money even if he gets the trend wrong. However, the author warns that not all trades will be successful. A success rate of more than 70% is quite easily achievable by following the strategies. The second part of the book also teaches a trader to capitalize on the news based price movement. The book is a treasure cove for traders who have ample basic knowledge about binary options but struggling to create a profitable trading system. How to Trade Binary Options Successfully by Meir Liraz. The book was written by multifaceted author Meir Liraz. Apart from being a writer, the author is an entrepreneur, small business management expert, binary options trading professional and a personal finance specialist with over 31 years of experience. To his credit, the author has 12 publications covering trading, business and finance. The author has adopted a step-by-step approach to cover the basic concepts about binary options trading. More importantly, a full chapter (critical factor for binary options trading success) has been dedicated to enable a trader to identify the thugs in the binary options trading business. There are totally 10 chapters in the book. As discussed earlier, the first chapter cautions about fraud brokers in the business and suggests techniques to identify them. The second chapter explains what binary options are and history behind them. The third chapter describes the choice of inputs (type of asset, investment, expiry time and variety of trade) available to a trader before entering a trade. Within the trade varieties sub-division , the author explains how to execute an abovebelow, touch and barrier option trades. The chapter also explains the process of extension and premature closure of a binary options contract. The fourth chapter talks about the advantages and disadvantages of trading binary options. The fifth chapter provides important tips for risk management. The sixth chapter explains the need for a trading system and the importance of technical analysis with a brief introduction about moving average and relative strength index. Additionally, the chapter also insists how important it is to have a charting facility with real-time data. The seventh chapter deals about the capital requirement and percentage allocation (per trade) for binary options trading. The eighth chapter is dedicated to the basics of technical analysis (identifying support and resistance with moving average, drawing channels and the different kind of price representation on charts. The chapter preceding the last one deals about the process of creating a trading system with various indicators such as RSI, Williams %R, MACD and moving average cross-over . The last section in the chapter nine explains the concept of news based trading. The tenth chapter provides psychological and general trading tips, which should be kept in mind to succeed in the binary options trading. The book is primarily intended for beginners who are looking for an introductory guide to binary options trading. However, after going through the book, a professional may feel that the position of the chapters (or some part of it) should be interchanged for better understanding of the concepts. For example, the description about price representation on a chart (bars, candles, lines etc.,) should have come earlier. Similarly, the pros and cons of binary options trading should have been provided at the last. Strategies for Directional and Volatility Trading by Alex Nekritin. The author Alex Nekritin is a professional trader with more than a decade of experience in Forex trading. Additionally, he is also the founder and president of a Forex introducing brokerage firm. He is known for his skills in risk management and trading system development. He is also the author of a popular spot Forex trading book. The author has written the book with both beginners and professionals in mind. To a beginner, all the basic concepts including the difference between exchange traded options and OTC based options are explained diligently. On the other hand, the first few chapters will act as a refreshment guide for a professional trader. The later chapters include well-manifested graphical illustrations and real life trading examples, which will make grasping of complex concepts easier. The book consists of seven parts and sixteen chapters. The first two parts, which include three chapters, explain the basics of binary options trading. The last chapter also describes the manner in which a trader should read the option chain. The third part begins with a detailed discussion on vanilla options. The author then proceeds to discuss about expiration of binary options and the mechanics of a binary options short trade. The fifth and sixth chapter explains the manner in which trades are executed and settlement is done at expiry. The seventh chapter provides practical examples of how binary option trades are made. The fourth part of the book deals extensively with trading strategies. While the chapter eight teaches how to select strike price and take advantage of the price volatility to enter a longshort trade, the chapter nine explains the option Greek ‘delta’ in detail. The next two chapter switches back to trading strategies based on support, resistance and news. The fifth part of the book teaches the process of developing and testing a binary options trading strategy. The chapter thirteen in the fifth part of the book deals with emotional aspect of trading. The next chapter offers suggestions about risk management and positions sizing. The sixth part of the book describes the process of managing a trading account. This includes an in-depth study about diversification, reinvestment, management of draw down and tackling a series of losing trades. The final part teaches the manner in which a trader should cut down losses, select assets which revert to mean and perform analysis to confirm the trend. The book is ideal for both beginners and professionals who wish to have an in-depth knowledge of binary options trading. Binary Options Trading Strategy by Pascal Pierre Zambou. The author Pascal Pierre Zambou’s main aim of writing the book is to provide traders with a single trading strategy which could be employed at all times. The author also cautions traders that using multiple systems would only aggravate losses and not increase profits. Thus, a reader of the book can very well understand the reason behind dedicating a book for a single system using four indicators. The book straight away goes into the trading strategy without explaining the basics of binary option trading. However, there cannot be any complaints as the author categorically says that the book is intended for those who are in search of a proper trading system. At the outset, the author says that the proven system is valid only on 5-minute charts. The author then begins to explain the strategy by giving a detailed description about the four indicators (RSI, Bollinger Bands, moving average & slow stochastic oscillator) used in his system. The details about each of those indicators are quite elaborate with numerous charts. In the final chapter the author explains with examples the protocol for entering a trade. The book is suited only to those individuals who are in dire need of a workable trading system. Even though the book achieved its objective of providing a comprehensive trading system, the author could have made the publication more attractive by including more details about binary options trading. Those who wish to take binary options trading as a profession should seriously consider reading the books listed above. It will not only clear the doubts that may arise during trading but also assess each trade in totality. Such a process will enable a trader to raise the level of performance at a rapid phase.
