binary options zigzag Use Zig Zag Indicator In Combination For Greater Profits. Binary Options traders can seek the help of various technical indicators in the course of their trade. One among the various binary options tools used is the Zig Zag Indicator. This simple indicator helps to get a long term perspective of the asset in question and obtain a ‘trend following’.
It gives best benefits if used in conjunction with another suitable indicator. What Exactly Is A Zig Zag Indicator? The Zig Zag Indicator is a series of straight lines joining set of points based on the type of charts used.
If dot, line and mountain type of charts which are based on closing prices are used then the Zig Zag line will also be based on closing prices. Charts such as OHLC etc which are based on highlow range of asset will lead the Zig Zag line to join the highlow range of asset. The Zig Zag line obtained in this context will be increasingly responsive to price movements as compared to those based on the closing prices. The Zig Zag indicator can be used in trade of all assets.
Its direction changes with a large movement in the underlying asset. Due to this factor, it can be said that the Zig Zag indicator has more of historical importance and may not be of much use to the short term traders. How Do You Use It Profitably?
The Zig Zag indicator is simple to use and can be found in the Metatrader platform. It is most helpful to novices at the start of their trading journey. It provides an insight into the highs and lows of the market. The most profitable way to use it, is to combine it with another technical indicator such as Moving Averages, Commodity Channel Index, Stochastic or the Relative Strength Index set to required periods. Greater results can be obtained by use of this indicator till the trading assets are mostly ranging.
In case of occurrence of breakouts, it pays to search for new assets that are still ranging. At the same time factors like proper risk management, support and resistance assume great importance for obtaining profitable results. Benefits Of Zig Zag Indicator. Various benefits are obtained by including the Zig Zag indicator as one of your technical indicators for trade in assets. Some of them can be listed in brief Simple indicator, easy to follow Eases out short term fluctuations Capacity to ascertain support and resistance Forecast trend reversal Large movements in asset are brought out Reliable tool for application in wave analysis as a concurrent indicator.
Due to its tendency of repainting, it has to be combined with other indicators so that greater benefit can be obtained from reversal signals provided by it. Moreover, it needs large movement in asset for it to change and does not serve the purpose of being much of a signal provider. Hence, it cannot be relied for callput options signals. The Zig Zag indicator is one of the good binary options indicators. Though it may not be useful to short term traders, analysis of the peaks and troughs of the Zig Zag line on a long term basis gives a definite indication of the trend. So it can be effectively used to ascertain the trade direction and simultaneously another suitable indicator can be used to ascertain trade entry.
Elliott Wave Zigzag & Fibonacci Patterns. Fibonacci numbers are a mathematical sequence that is defined by adding the first two numbers to get the next number. This sequence usually starts with a 0-1 or a 1-1 pattern. Extending from there the pattern looks like this 0-1-1-2-3-5-8 and so on. The Elliot Waves are a sequence of waves with a 5-3 pattern five waves that are impulse waves and three waves that are corrective waves. Within each wave of an Elliot wave set is another wave set wave 1 is made up of 5 waves.
This is a degree. It is crucial for any trader to understand the relationship between Fibonacci and Elliot. It becomes part of the technical analysis. A trader can have their strategies for trading, but it is useless unless paired with a technical analysis. Not only are there waves and degrees, there are also retracement, expansion and time levels.
Understanding the application of these levels will aid in your analysis and give you a competitive advantage. Let’s look at the definition of these new terms. Retracement is when the number moves up or down depending on a bullish or bearish market but then it quickly recovers and continues to follow the trend.
A reversal , on the other hand, is when the number moves up or down but does not recover. It continues on a resistance move up or down against the trend. An expansion is realized when the C wave extends beyond where the A wave started. It always starts as a corrective wave and is in a 3-3-5 pattern (note the Fibonacci numbers).
So, in Wave A there are 3 sub-waves followed by Wave B which also has three sub-waves and concluded with Wave C which has 5 sub-waves. For example, the wave A could start at 20 then Wave B comes along with 3 sub-waves that end at 25 followed by Wave C, with its 5 sub-waves that end at 15, which is below where Wave A started. The time factor really falls into Binary Options, where you predict what the market will do in a certain period of time. This type of prediction all on its own is difficult. But by using Elliot Wave Theory and Fibonacci Numbers you can come close.
Elliot Wave Zigzag Pattern. One of the corrective wave patterns is the zigzag . The corrective wave pattern is constructed of three waves (A-B-C). A zigzag follows a 5-3-5 pattern.
This means Wave A is comprised of 5 sub-waves, followed by Wave B which has 3 sub-waves and concluded with Wave C that has 5 sub-waves. This pattern forms a zigzag. There can be double and triple zigzags as well. This is when an X Wave is introduced between the zigzag wave tying them together into either the double or triple depending on if there is one or two X Waves.
It should be noted that triple zigzags are rare. Zigzag Compared with Flat & Triangle. The wave pattern of a zigzag has much longer legs on the A wave and C waves than a flat. Again, both are corrective waves.
Since there are also combinations of waves you need to pay close attention to the C wave. If the C wave is longer than the A wave, most likely the whole zigzag is part of another type of wave pattern called the triangle. A flat is where the peaks and valleys don’t surpass one another. So, the B Wave moves up to the previous high, followed by the C Wave falling down to the previous low.
If you were to trace a line along all the highs and all the lows, you would have two parallel lines. This is the description of a flat. A triangle is a 3-3-3-3-3 pattern. So, each part of the impulse wave has three sub-waves.
The key thing to know about triangles is that they can only happen at specific times in the cycle. This means they can be a good indicator of where things are in the cycle. A triangle can only form as part of the leg prior to the final wave, meaning Wave 4 in the impulse trend or Wave B in the correcting trend.
They can also form in an X wave and during the last wave of a total movement. If you were to draw a line across all the highs and all the lows you would get one of two patterns an expanding or contracting triangle. Expanding triangles have higher highs and lower lows making the two lines open up on the right and a contracting triangle would have lower highs and high lows make the two lines converge on the right. Because the position of a triangle is always known, the trader who is familiar with the Elliot Waves and Fibonacci Numbers has a particular advantage. Corrections can be Complex or Simple.
A zigzag can be a complex correction grouped with other patterns or it can be a standalone correction. A complex correction is where the X wave is introduced and you get a double or triple zigzag possibly a triangle or a flat. A complex correction can only go so far based on the Fibonacci Numbers. A simple correction is the basic Elliot wave with a 5-3 structure 5 impulse waves followed by 3 corrective waves.
This is the true zigzag pattern and the only simple correction. It is good tactics to be well-versed in the Elliot Wave Theory and the Fibonacci Numbers. The patterns repeat themselves over time.
If you can analyze the data from one given point in time you will eventually begin to see the whole cycle unfold. This will help you determine what the numbers will do. Couple this with your overall trading strategy and you should have a sound plan to follow. It sounds simple, but in reality it is more complicated than what can be presented here.
Learning the Elliot wave patterns and terminology is a great step to putting together your complete plan. Start trading now by opening a FREE account on one of our recommended brokers. ZigZag – the Definition.
Trading Cryptocurrencies With IQ Option - August 22, 2017 Digital Options Offered By IQOption - July 26, 2017 French Regulator Waives Bans on 24Option - July 3, 2017. Basically, the ZigZag is the corrective pattern and it should be marked with the letter and it is appearing the a-b-c structure. For some it may seem that is similar to the flat pattern but the difference between the flat pattern and the ZigZag pattern is the fact that the Fibonnaci levels of retracement for the wave b is slightly different between the flat pattern and the ZigZag pattern. Besides that, another difference is the fact that the structure of the wave a is different with these two corrective patterns.
When it comes to the flat pattern, the wave a is actually having the corrective nature. However, when it comes to the wave a in ZigZag pattern, it is having the impulsive nature. Taking into the account that the price is consolidating for the majority of time, any trader should expect that patterns like the two mentioned previously will appear no matter what type of the corrective nature the price pulls off. When the price is forming the triangle, then, traders should consider that the legs of the triangle that appeared are corrective and that they should be created by the corrective waves that appear on a lower degrees, or the ZigZags, flats or some other type that was derived from these two patterns. If it happens that the triangle that appeared is expanding that means that the corrective waves that appear in that moment are most likely to be the ZigZags.
61.8% Rule – the Level of Retracement for the wave B. When a trader is actually trading binary options with the ZigZag pattern, the most important issue that he or she needs to keep in mind is the level of the retracement for the wave b. In the case of wave be, the level of retracement should be higher than 61.8% in situation when the wave b is compared to the wave b. This issue is very important, especially in the cases when the further phases of the trader appear, for example, when we should buy the call options in the case of the uptrend and after we had the five waves structures for the waves and when the wave b is not having the retracement level bigger than 61.8% and when the wave c is part of the five wave structure as well. Because of that, it can be said that the ZigZag pattern, while it is marked with the a-b-c should have the structure of 5-3-5 for all those waves and this is obligatory and it cannot be changed. Determining the Striking Price. ZigZag patterns are actually very powerful and important patterns because as such they represent the corrective wave that is very similar to the impulsive activity.
Occasionally, the ZigZag pattern is even more powerful than the impulsive action, but the ZigZag patter can also be described as a very dangerous pattern for fighting the flows because when you think of it, the ZigZag pattern has been created by two impulsive actions of a lower degree. Because of that, the retracement levels of the corrective waves are much smaller and basically they bear no significance and if a trader attempts to actually pick a top or a bottom in that kind of pattern, it may be proven to be a very bad move. Additionally, when it happens that the ZigZag pattern is actually channeling very well, the implication that lead to the complex correction are growing bigger and at the moment when the price actually hits the other side of the given channel that should be the moment when traders should find the striking price that they have been looking for so quite some time and that action should actually initiate the end of the correction on the lower degree as well as the start of the new impulsive move.
ZigZag and Complex Corrections. If happens that the trend is formed out of two or three ZigZags, no matter if that trend is actually the bullish or the bearish trend, then the complex correction will appear and it will have one or even two very small x waves on the two or three ZigZags that are creating the trend. When the previously described action happens, we are actually talking about the minimum of four and the maximum of six moves that are impulsive or of a lower degree so you will be able to image what would be the impact of attempting to pick a top or a bottom. In this case, the extremely importance is the retrace for the wave b that should retrace back into the territory of the wave a that came previously, even if it happens only slightly.
This is not debatable, so to say and it has to happen. Additionally, traders should also keep in mind that unlike the flat patterns, ZigZag patterns should include the wave c that is actually moving even beyond the end of the wave a. One good use of this that the trader might have in this case is the help that it provides in the process of reaching the decision on buying the call or the put options as well as it provides information when the given move is considered done. When it comes to the flat and ZigZag patterns, it need to be said that the ZigZag patterns are usually the most powerful and they are very easy to comprehend because according to the popular opinion there are only three types of this pattern and that depends on the length of the wave c that appears in this pattern. The normal pattern is the most common and the one that is present the most because the price with this trend has the tendency of travel equal lengths for both waves, c and a. Once again it is important to emphasize that just like for any other patter and the level of resistance, the bigger the time frame is the resistance and the support get stronger and this is also applicable on ZigZag patterns as well – the bigger the time frame is, the implications and the expiration date for the given options should be stronger and longer. When it comes to the moment when the bullish ZigZag patterns appear, that moment is the best moment to buy the call options before the wave c is actually completed.
On the other hand, when the bearish ZigZag patterns appear we should buy the put options. However, be careful with the time frame on which the pattern is being created because the time frame is crucial for the best possible expiration date. One of the most popular timeframes in binary trading is 60 seconds. With a 1 minute timeframe, you can make a lot of winning trades in an hour, or you can make a lot of losing trades. I gathered some of my most profitable trading strategies for this time frame, and I’m happy to share them with you so you can find yourself on the winning end of a 60 second trade. For each of the strategies outlined below, there are many similarities, however it takes time to learn how to implement each methodology correctly. But once you do perfect them, they are the only 60 seconds binary options strategies that work.
In the world of binary, making a profit in 60 seconds is like hunting. You need to wait for the right setup, for the big game to come into your crosshairs. The anticipation builds up, and then you wait and wait until the right moment, the right signal. When it comes you need to immediately place your option by following the 60 second strategy rules.
2 pitfalls in 60 seconds binary options strategy. When trading within the 60 second timeframe you need to be weary of two main pitfalls Trigger Happy – If you’re a trader, you’ve got an itchy trigger finger. Its both a blessing and a curse, but there’s no getting around it. It’s what allow us to make bold moves when everybody else is too timid.
But, when trading at 60 seconds, being trigger happy is more of a curse. Every time I wasn’t following the strategy’s rules and hit the options before or without the right signal, I lost money. The market is serious business it’s easy to lose your money if you don’t stick to your strategy. Even if the market eventually turns in your favor, be careful of a mirage.
What counts is the sum of all your trades. Hesitation – The opposite side of having an itchy trigger finger is being too slow to act. It happens often after a series of losing trades, at least, that’s how it happened to me. However, a good trader is able to put aside emotions and place the option when the right signal arrives no matter how many previous trades he or she lost. Simple Strategies for 60 Seconds Trading.
Let’s outline some simple strategies for 60 seconds binary option trading. There are many strategies floating out there on the web. My rule of thumb is you need to figure what makes sense to you and see how it fits into your trading style. ZigZag Strategy – A 60 second strategy for after hours.
In the financial market after hours means when the market releases all the news of the day as the time moves closer to the final hours of the US stock exchange trading cycle. I highly recommend to trade on EURUSD or GBPUSD after hours. Once in awhile you will recognize a 60 minute neutral trend as shown in the graph below.
If you need help identifying a trend you can check out my write up on this basic but absolutely essential skill. 3 ZigZag Strategy Rules You should have at least two touch points at the same price for the resistance line and two touch points for the support line For binary options with touch type If the currency price reaches the support line, it’s a call option If the currency price reaches the resistance line, it’s a put option When the price breaks up from one of the lines you should quit. This methodology is great for earning money using a highlow option. Another great use of this setup is with range or boundary options. (Range and boundary options are the same concept but sometimes have different names depending on the broker.
) While you wait for the price of the underlying asset bounce off the support or resistance line, mark a third line in between the two boundaries. Once the price hits the middle like you marked, you can place your boundary option trade. Chances are you’ll get a price range that is in between the resistance and support line. Now, you should always remember to treat your trading file as a real business and like every good business that makes money there are some costs, so you need to remember that you will experience a break out from one of the lines so you should accept this fact as part of business costs – this is super important and it’s the key to become a successful binary option trader. You should also remember to treat trading as a real business.
Like every good business that makes money, there are also some costs along the way. You need to remember that you will experience a break from the support or resistance lines from time to time. Don’t get frazzled.
Chalk it up as the cost of doing business. This concept is super important and one of the keys to becoming a successful binary options trader. The 60 Seconds Event Strategy. If you feel comfortable enough with binary options trading, and you control the broker’s platform you can try this phenomenal strategy which I use on occasion. The 60 seconds event strategy is made for experienced traders.
It is most recommend to use on Ladder options. If you need an explanation on what are Ladders options, click here. As the world turns things happen. It can be a major announcement on interest rates, or a natural disaster.
Each event that happens influences the financial markets such as currencies or assets. Most events that happen affect EURUSD, some affect oil prices. You should figure what events are likely to influence which assets.
As for the setup, the asset price needs to present a neutral trend that is narrowing down. Now let’s say an event announcement occurs at 1030 EST and you recognize a setup, using a ladder option, place your option for the furthest rung available. Most brokers provide a great return on the 5th rung of the ladder option it can be 300% or even reach up to 1000%.
If you act on accurate market analysis, one winning trade can be worth few times more than a losing one. As I mentioned before, this strategy is for advanced traders only. It takes time to adjust, but when you do, it’s a wonderful way to earn money on ladder binary options.
If you are looking for a great event calendar, here is a link to my favorite calendar at Forexfactory. I hope you enjoyed my binary options 60 second trading strategy round up. Zig Zag Indicator For Binary Options – ZZ on Top of Trading. The Zig Zag Indicator is a trend following indicator often used in wave analysis. It measure retracement of trend and weeds out short term fluctuations. Find out how to use this indicator with binary options.
The Zig Zag, or ZZ as I will refer to it, is a trend following indicator that tried to weed out random short term price fluctuations in favor of longer term reversal. The indicator works on the simple premise that it will change direction when the underlying assets has changed direction and moved more than X amount. This produces a series of straight lines that produce a pattern that zigs and zags across the chart. This indicator is used to trade all kinds of assets and is most commonly applied to wave analysis as a coincident indicator.
Because it relies on a large movement in order to trigger a change in the indicator it is rather backward looking and may not be the best indicator for short term traders. The calculations for a ZZ line are different based on different types of charts. Line, dot and mountain style charts are based on closing prices so the ZZ line is based on those same closing prices.
Candlesticks, OHLC and other charts that show an assets highlow range will be based on the range. ZZ lines based on the highlow range are more sensitive to price movement than those based on just the close because the range from the high to low is likely to larger than the range from one close to the next. The indicator is usually set to certain dollar or % amount.
My charts come at the standard setting of $1. This means that the indicator will not change direction unless the asset moves $1 in the opposite direction. I prefer a % amount, as it will vary naturally with the price of the asset while a dollar amount will have to be adjusted manually as the asset appreciates and depreciates. Lines are drawn from the high of the peak to the low of the trough, or vice versa as the case may be. Once the line changes direction it will remain in that direction until price reverses by the set margin again. Traders need to be careful of the last line in each series because it is not set and could change if asset prices change. Why This Indicator Doesn’t Suck.
This indicator doesn’t suck because it is a valid trend following device. It measure long term movements and filters out short term price fluctuations. The formulation is simple and so is the analysis. When the ZZ line is trending up the asset is trending up, when it is trending down, the asset is trending down.
Why This Indicator Might Suck. This indicator might suck because it is not much of a signal provider. In order for the it to change direction, ie provide a potential signal, the underlying asset has to make a large move. By the time the indicator does change direction the move could be over. My Last Thoughts On The Zig Zag Indicator.
I think that this is a good tool for binary traders. I also think that it is not something to base an entry on. The signal it provides is backward looking and does not provide much insight into short term direction. However, as a trend following and coincident indicator it finds its best use. A long term analysis of the ZZ line, its peaks and troughs, provides a clear indication of trend. Use it to determine the direction of your trades, then use something else to determine entry for those trades.
Since my chart uses the $ version, I have added the Average True Range indicator and will use it to determine the setting for the ZZ. ZigZag indicator and binary options. ZigZag indicator is used to search highs and lows on a chart by showing support and resistance levels. This indicator is available on MT4 platform. It is, however, characterized by considerable repainting .
This is why we propose a version modified by Rita Lasker (Green Forex Group) without the repainting trait, but with a built-in e-mailed sound alarm and the signal that’s visualized with a big arrow. Still, it must be said that the arrow’s movements should be taken with a grain of salt. Binary Options Strategy – The Zig-Zag Indicator. When looking at indicators that follow trends and those that are used in “wave analysis”, the Zig-Zag indicator is one that comes to mind.
It works on excluding fluctuations over the short term and measures trend retracement. So how does it work with binary options ? This specific indicator looks at long term reversal while ensuring that the price fluctuations that occur over the short term as not acted on in error.
The Zig-Zag indicator is supposed to change its direction as and when the assets it is based on changes direction and moves upwards of a specific set amount. This forms the classic zig-zag pattern as it shows a series of lines zigging and zagging in the chart. This indicator is often used when trading various assets and is a coincident indicator when applied to wave analysis.
This indicator is more of a backwards looking indicator and relies on a relatively large movement before any change is visible, so it does not work well when trading over the short term (on short timeframes). So how does it work exactly? There are various charts used when calculating the zig-zag line .
These include mountain, dot and line charts based on prices that assets close at. This means the zig-zag line is based on closing prices in the same way. OHLC, candlesticks and other charts tend to show highlow ranges of assets which makes a zig-zag line based on this range more sensitive when prices move as opposed to those that work on the close price only as low to high tends to be a larger range than close to close. This indicator would need to be set as a percentage or a specific amount of a currency such as dollars .
A percentage works better than a currency variance so it does not need constant adjustment for the assets depreciations and appreciations. The lines would need to be drawn from the peak of the high to the troughs lowest point or the opposite way around depending on flow. Once the line moves in the specific direction, it will stay that way until the price moves in the opposite direction by the specified percentage or value. The last line in the series could change if the price of the asset changes as it isn’t set.
+ and – of this trading strategy. This indicator is specifically for following trends and is a valid indicator to measure movement over a longer period while allowing you to negate the fluctuations that occur over a short term period. It is easy to analyse and formulate. The zig-zag goes up, the asset trend is up, the zig-zag arrows down, the asset trend is downwards.
This indicator is not great for providing signals as an asset needs to make a big movement in either direction before there is any potential signal, which could be too late to make use of it. The zig-zag indicator is best used as a tool for binary trades but not used exclusively for entering the market. Short term direction is not forthcoming with this tool, it is more backwards looking. It works well as a coincident indicator and as a trend follower.
When you analyse the zig-zag, it gives a clear trend indication which can help you to determine trend direction. Use it with a value or a percentage base to get an idea of its functionality. The Zigzag Elliott Wave Theory What is It and How Does it Work?
The Elliot Wave principle is a theory that seeks to describe group psychology or how people behave when they are in a group. The Zigzag Elliott Wave Theory What is It and How Does it Work? Ralph Nelson Elliott established this theory after observing that the financial markets behave the same way human beings behaved. He used his deduction to develop a logical system of analyzing the financial markets. As part of developing his theory, Elliott noticed 13 waves or movement patterns that are repetitive and occur at certain price points.
He named these patterns the Elliott waves. Each wave is connected to the other to form a large, ongoing pattern, with each next wave larger than the previous one. How is the Elliott Wave Theory Applied in Financial Markets?
Elliott’s Waves are a reflection of investor behavior, which is the driving force of the stock markets. Look at it this way Markets are in constant flux prices fall today and rise tomorrow. In a way, a visual representation of the financial market would be a zigzag or wavy shape.
Changing investor behavior is reflected by changes in the wave pattern. By identifying a recurring pattern, you would be able to forecast the price movement of an asset. However, the predictions you make based on the pattern is just a probability. Advanced traders who are fully familiar with Elliot Wave theory are able to observe the markets and predict what move the markets are likely to make and what move they will not make going forward.
There is very little risk involved when using this pattern to assess market movements. The Elliot waves have a distinct form. Notably the first part of the pattern is made up of 5 waves. Although there are different variations of Elliott wave patterns, the 5 waves are the archetype. Indeed, the stock market always takes the shape of these five waves.
This basic pattern is also known as the impulse pattern each of the five waves moves up or down depending on market sentiments. The Zigzag Correction. The Zigzag correction consists of three-waves where the second wave after the fifth wave (call it wave B) does not go lower than 75% of the wave that immediately follows the fifth wave in the pattern (call it wave A). Wave A of this Zigzag correction pattern always consists of three waves. Therefore, identifying a wave pattern that contains five waves within the wave, you will have correctly identified a zigzag pattern. In a bullish market, the zigzag correction is observable as a pattern in decline with a sequence of 5 waves, 3 waves and another five waves.
As mentioned above, the highest point of wave B is usually lower than the starting point of wave A. Meanwhile in a bearish market, the zigzag pattern is reversed to form an inverted zigzag correction. Overall, the zigzag is the only type of simple correction but there are many complex correction patterns. Corrections are generally difficult for novice traders to master. Traders who use the Elliott wave theory usually make profits at the formation of an impulse pattern but lose it following corrective pattern. An impulse pattern, made up of five waves always precedes a corrective pattern, such as the zigzag pattern.
Elliot Zigzag Wave Rules. There are four simple rules Wave’s B retracement has to be no more than 61.8% of Wave A, Usually Wave C is equal to Wave A, Wave C must extend beyond Wave A, Wave B never goes beyond the start of Wave A. Double and Triple Elliot Zigzag Waves. Sometimes can occur that zizgag can become double or triple in succession. So explain next figure labeled with X, W, Y. In every double zigzag wave each individual wave is separated by X. binary options zigzag A zigzag is a corrective pattern, it should be labeled with letters and comes with the a-b-c structure.
The difference between a flat and a zigzag is being given by the fact that the Fibonacci retracement level for the b wave is a bit different between the two and also from the fact that the structure of wave A is different as well. In the case of a flat pattern wave a is corrective in nature (namely a lower degree zigzag or flat) while in the case of a zigzag wave a is impulsive. Taking into consideration that price is consolidating most of the times, you should expect such patterns to appear on and on regardless of what is the corrective nature of the price move. For example, if price is forming a triangle, then it should be considered that all the legs of the triangle are corrective and they should be formed out of corrective waves of a lower degree, namely zigzags, flats, or derivations based on them.
If the triangle is an expanding one, then those corrective waves are most likely to be zigzags. Retracement Level for the B wave – 61.8% Rule. The most important thing to consider when trading on the forex market, be it with binary options or CFDs, based on a zigzag pattern is to look at the retracement level for the b wave . This level should not be bigger that 61.8% when compared with the previous wave a and this is important moving forward as we should place BUY orders CALL options in an uptrend after we have a five waves structure for wave, the b wave that is not retracing more than 61.8% and then the c wave which should be a five waves structure as well.
Therefore, a zigzag, while labeled a-b-c it should have a 5-3-5 structure for those waves and this is mandatory. Determining the Strike Price. Zigzags are powerful patterns in the sense that they represent the only corrective wave that resemble impulsive activity. Even more powerful than an impulsive move, a zigzag is a dangerous pattern to be fighting flows as in reality it is formed out of two impulsive moves of a lower degree. This makes the retracement for the corrective waves of a lower degree to be really small and insignificant and trying to pick a top or a bottom in such a pattern may prove to be a disaster.
Moreover, when a zigzag is channeling really well, implications for a complex correction are growing bigger and bigger and the moment price hits the other side of the channel should be seen as the strike price because that should trigger the end of the lower degree correction and the beginning of a new impulsive move. ZigZag and Complex Corrections. If a trend, regardless if it is a bullish one or a bearish one, is formed out of two or even three zigzags, then the complex correction it is called to have one or two small X waves and two or three zigzags. All in all, in the case above we are talking about minimum four and maximum six impulsive moves or a lower degree so you can imagine the impact on trying to pick a top or a bottom.
What is of extreme importance is the retrace for the B wave as it should retrace into the territory of the previous wave A, even if only slightly. That is mandatory. Also, another thing to consider comes from the fact that, opposite to flats, a zigzag should have the C wave moving beyond the end of wave A. This helps one trader in taking a decision for buying call or put options or when a specific move is considered done. Between the flat and zigzag, the later ones are the most powerful and they are not complicated in nature as one may think, as there are only three types, depending on the length of the C wave.
The normal one is the most common pattern as price tends to travel equal lengths for both waves C and A. And then again, like any pattern or support or resistance level, the bigger the time frame, the stronger the support and resistance are becomes, in the case of zigzags this goes pretty much the same the bigger the time frame, the stronger the implications and the bigger the expiration date for the option should be. It goes without saying that after a bullish zigzag we should look to place BUY trades CALL options by the time the C wave is completed, while after a bearish one we should look to buy PUT optionsSELL CFDs. Again, mind the time frame the pattern is forming on as that is vital in having the right expiration date when trading binary options. Make sure to watch the two videos in this educational article and you’ll have an idea about how to trade forex with binary options or CFDs based on a pattern like a zigzag and also the basics of identifying a zigzag.
